MANCHESTER - Former Aston Villa player Gabriel Agbonlahor thinks that Ruben Amorim is the right person for Manchester United. Having an excellent report card at Portuguese club Sporting CP, he became one of the best young coaches in European football.

It is now official that Ruben Amorim has been announced as Manchester United's new manager, with the club signing the Portuguese tactician to replace Erik ten Hag. Ten Hag was shown the exit at United upon a string of poor displays, which then saw the English giants appoint Ruud van Nistelrooy as caretaker manager until Amorim was ready to assume his position at Old Trafford.

What caught United's attention regarding Amorim? His scintillating form at Sporting CP this season has simply made him impossible to ignore. Sporting sit top of the league table with a perfect record: 10 wins from 10 games. They have scored 33 goals and conceded just three. Gabriel Agbonlahor told Give Me Sport why Amorim's record makes him perfect for United. "Since last season, Sporting Lisbon has scored the most goals across the top six leagues. They waited 19 years to win a title, and he went there and helped them win two titles in the last five seasons," Agbonlahor said.

And then look at what he has achieved since leaving Braga to Sporting Lisbon, winning their first title in nearly two decades, and it is clear Manchester United has found the right person, he said.

Appointment of Amorim means the flicker of hope for United fans. His penchant for attack-minded football, combined with a decent defensive record, might be just what the Red Devils need to get back in stride. In light of the dominance cited above instigated by him at Sporting, there is every reason for the fans to believe he will bring this magic and apply it in Manchester to repeat the same success in the Premier League.
